I should be spending my time musing fondly about the many pleasant things I've seen here today and the many warm and friendly people I've met, but I can't. Hell has descended on the world and the results are even more stupid and senseless than the goings on in the Whitehouse in 2020..if that's even possible.
The Guardian reported today that 4500 people have been diagnosed with the Cornoavirus. China says 106 have died so far. Rumour on the street in Thailand says that 80,000 Chinese have the virus. So, let us posit just for fun that 80,000 is the number that have died from the virus. It's not as outrageous as it sounds. Governments lie to us. That's what they do. That means .001% of the population of the planet is dead. That's not even a news story. The Americans kill that many in their high schools every year. No need to get all worked up about this and certainly no need to spend your day walking around with a stupid mask on your face. If the virus is that bad and is going to kill millions around the world, do you really think a face mask is going to save your ass?
There are 8 billion people on the planet. 1.5 billion live in China. Here in Chaing Mai Thailand (we arrived yesterday), the streets are crawling with faceless people. I must be in an episode of the Twilight Zone. Rod Serling just appeared and said: "the year is 3058 and the earth has gone mad, even crazier than it was in 2020. Citizens of earth walk the streets with their mouth and nose covered. People are no longer attractive or ugly, happy or sad, angry or peaceful. Their souls have left their bodies and they are now nobody. No one knows who they are and no one cares if they even exist."
That's what if feels like here in South East Asia.
I can understand that a face mask will keep some air particles from entering the lungs in a polluted city like Hanoi. Beyond that, it's a think piece of cloth or paper. Get a grip! You're ruining my holday.
