This exercise (described in the last posting) was one of the more informative projects I've undertaken in my quest for a successful business model. Mostly because it involved other people, other perspectives, other opinions.
Funnily enought, that's pretty much what my unique ability is. That is to say, after sorting through the comments, I (we) have concluded that I am an "enabler". That doesn't mean I encourage an alcoholic to drink beer, rather, I bring people together and see what happens.
Here are a few of the comments I received:
He is able to easily put people at their ease..
..brings diverse groups of people together...
..makes people feel comfortable..
..fun to be with, understanding and tolerant..
..giving of his time
..has a dirty mind you would expect of a hillbilly banjo player (how did that get in there?)
..ability to find and attract good people to worthwhile causes
At my Strategic Coach meeting the other day, I passed on these comments to my group of 20 or so entrepreneurs and they, not I, worked at reducing them to one word.
That's how we ended up with "enabler".
I like it. I think I'll keep it. Not that I have any choice in the matter.
