Thrill of a lifetime #1:
On July 1st, 1993, Stompin' Tom Connors performed for the first time at the Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. It was a hot evening, not a cloud in the sky and the crowd was estimated to be 100,000. The show was broadcast coast to coast on the CBC. This was the last year a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup. As we were playing The Hockey Song, someone from the Montreal Canadians carried the Stanley Cup onto the stage and handed it to Tom. He almost fell over (beer will do that to you). I played banjo for him that night.
Thrill of lifetime #2:
March 8, 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, the Barenaked Ladies performed Fox on the Run for 3000 RE/MAX associates at their largest International Convention ever. I played banjo for them that night. Here's the performance.
