Yes, I'm a glass half full kind of guy. A bit of an idealist. There is always a bright side to every bleak landscape. Must be my good Scottish genes.
Rob Ford! Now there's a bleak landscape, particularly if you're a downtown kind of person. Perhaps Etobicoke residents feel differently about this guy. I don't know and I sure as hell don't care. All I know for sure is he's the wrong mayor for the City of Toronto, regardless of what decade we're living in.
Mel, Bad Boy Lastman was god-awful. I'm desperately trying to find the good that came of his tenure. But Ford? That's a different matter. Some good might actually come out of his time at the job. There might actually be a political discussion that is long over due.
I'm thinking that 3 more years with this buffoon might lead us to the promised land, that is, a decentralized city government. There was another stooge who recked havoc on our city. He created this mess with his centralized notion of government. I'm referring to Mike Harris. He's the reason we have Ford running our affairs. This would not be happening if there wasn't amalgamation. I'm thinking that it's time to take our city back from the suburbs and let us run our own budget and our own affairs.
