Yippee. I'm now a free man. I no longer need to spend countless hours watching my PC reboot or wait for my anti virus to complete it's update. I now work exclusively with a Mac.
If the Toronto Real Estate Board ever gets their technology act together, I'll be rid of my PC once and for all. The largest and most progressive real estate organization in the world is still marrying our on-line web site to Explorer, even though many of us are clamouring for this to change.
Actually, come to think of it, I'll still need the PC for my computerized bluegrass band. It is a fantastic program called Band in a Box that allows me to program any song in any key at any speed and replay it when needed. It's the best rehearsal tool imaginable. But it operates better on the PC, at least for now.
I finalized this change last Friday when I picked up my iPhone 4 at the Mac store. I've been hearing for years from other Realtors that this device is not business friendly and wouldn't work as well as the Blackberry. "It's a toy" they would say. What a pile of crap! The fact is, it's better.
Why? Because it's easier on the eyes. I can read the damn thing without squinting. How about that? I can easily enlarge the documents. It's jet-speed fast. The typing is different but no more annoying than the blackberry. I can use the 3 G feature at the cottage with my computer. For $9.00 I bought a Peterson Strobe tuner that will guarantee a well tuned banjo at all times. I can use it in lieu of my iPod. The camera actually takes great high quality photos. The calendar is easier to use and read. And the map feature? Don't get me going on this. It's simply amazing.
My Mac techie, Jeff Barrett from Macmedics tells me this move to the Mac is accelerating each day. It's phenomonen for cryin' out loud. By the way, I'll rarely need to speak to Jeff. There's not much that will go wrong with this and when it does, the Mac support system is fantastic. I'm part of the business group at the Mac store and they actually either answer their phone or call me right back if I have a question.
I now have more time to door knock and blog.
