Isn't it simply grand how dynamic the world is right now? General Motors might be nationalized in the U.S.? Wow. Who would have thought this possible 6 months ago. Two thirds of the electorate think the first black president is making their lives better! Wow. Who would have thought that possible 6 months ago? Interest rates at an all time low! Wow. Who would have thought that possible 6 months ago?
Those of us still alive 10 years from now will appreciate this period in our lives and be grateful we lived through it. It may not seem that way now but....
I thought of this as I read of Deepak Chopra's visit to Massey Hall last night. I wasn't there but I'm pretty sure he spoke of the power of meditation, or as he also calls it, "a little quiet, reflective time". Meditation has given him a perspective on this that we don't often read about and it has great value.
He also spoke of the need for the old economy to die before we create a new one. Says Deepak, "We spent money we did not have on things we did not need to impress people who did not matter." "It was a casino.".
He goes on the point out that bail-outs simply keep the old economy alive and that is not the answer. Most polls I've read seem to confirm that most are thinking this way.
I value his wisdom in these matters.
