I'm putting this in the real estate category because this story will contribute to the increase in Canadian (i.e. Toronto) real estate values.
Michael Moore has released a new documentary called Sicko. It's about the corrupt health care system in the U.S. and other like minded countries around the world. Peter Howell from The Star reviewed the movie today and it made me think that Michael Moore's description of Canadians warrants him receiving the Order of Canada.
Check this out. Moore "presents Canadians as the cheery hobbits of North America, who live happily in the shire and look with fear upon the dark place below."
Let me say I'm OK with being a "cheery hobbit". I wear the moniker with pride. I'm also pleased to be "one of the same jolly Canucks he presented in Bowling For Columbine who don't lock their front doors because there are no gun nuts north of the 49th parallel".
Let it be known that Sicko will contribute millions to the GNP of this fine land called Canada. We're already seeing thousands of people and millions of foreign dollars arrive each year, looking for a safe and profitable place to hang their hat. That's one of the reasons why we're awash in real estate commissions here in Toronto. Therefore, I hereby nominate Michael (who I would love to have a beer with sometime) to the Order of Canada. He's my hero, today at least.
